Common questions
- What does ViewMapper actually show me?
- It works out which terrain is genuinely in your line of sight from where you are standing — and draws it straight onto the map, accounting for the hills and ridges in between.
- What is Explorer mode?
- The world starts hidden under fog. As you explore, everything that comes into your line of sight is uncovered and stays uncovered — building a personal map of everywhere you have been and everything you have seen.
- Does it work without a signal?
- Yes. Download the maps for an area before you set off and ViewMapper keeps working with no connection, which is the point when you are deep in the hills.
- How far can it see?
- As far as the terrain allows. From an exposed summit that can mean mountains hundreds of kilometres away; in a wooded valley it may be a few hundred metres.
- How much does it cost?
- ViewMapper is free on Google Play, with full access to all features at no cost.
